Common Pet Poisonings

By Tammy, LVT

There are many things in our homes that can be toxic to our pets.  Some of these items are safe for us, so we don't always think of them being harmful to our pets.

Here are a few of the more common poisons many people have in their homes.

  • Yard Chemicals

  • Rat/Mice Poisons

  • Chocolate

  • Plants-Easter Lily, Philodendron, Aloe

  • Xylaton (sugar free gum) in higher doses

  • Antifreeze

  • Prescription and Over The Counter Medication (Human and Animal)

Try to keep these items away from your pets,  if you think your pet may have eaten any of these items contact your veterinarian,  if you have the product label bring it with you when you call or go into the Veterinary Clinic.
